Lipsticks - a review

Have had a bit of a lipstick binge lately, haven't bought any for ages as I have a huge selection but felt a little bored with what I had. My thirst for looking gorgeous never seems to be quenched!!

There have been a number of ads on TV for long lasting lipsticks lately. My verdicts on two of the brand leaders are:
  • Maybelline Superstay: garish shades, red generally suits me but I wouldn't advise anyone to buy the Red Passion because it is just hideous. It is far more orangey when applied than the apparance would suggest. The other colours seem a bit wishy washy so I do wonder what market was being aimed at here. The colour sticks like superglue and in the end I resorted to oil to remove it. I bought this product on a 3 for 2 and whilst the other 2 shades I bought are ok they are not particuarly glamorous.
  • Max Factor Lipfinity. Again the colours are not wonderful but shade 108/frivolous suits me nicely, I bought this in offer £7.75 instead of £10.75. The website does not give any real indication as to the shades btw! Like the Maybelline Superstay lasts forever and requires tough measures to remove. In fact it would not surpirise me if these are not manufactured by the same company and marketed by the different cosmetic houses!
So ladies, what are your recent lipstick-buying experiences, favourite lipsticks (product / shade) and why?

not bought any lipsticks for past 5+ years now as i have a collection from Clinique Bonus Times - love all their colours as they seem to suit all skin tones - though they are not as long last as they ones you have mentioned. if i buy any lipstick it would be middle of the road, Bourjois- i love their colours especially the the dark pinks/violets/damsons etc. but more so as i am fussy about the smells of lipsticks bourjois smell the best and clinique are fragrance free. i hate the smell of loreal, maxfactor and revlon especially after a few months (my lipsticks usually last 6+ months.) they go off.

I have tried the Lipfinity types and find that the ones I bought peeled horribly and felt nasty on my lips.

The softer ones fade away really quickly on me and so I now go for cheap and cheerful. I can reccommend the Aldi lipsticks - very creamy, good colours and stay on as long as more expensive brands. The Boots No 7 lipsticks are a waste of money, imo - disappear very quickly after application..
