hen night - not sure i want one

Hey all
I'm not really sure I want a hen night!! This is striking all of my friends as quite odd, as normally I love to be the centre of attention - I am a very bubbly, sociable person...
But I am not sure about a hen night! H2B is having a stag weekend up in newcastle and that's going to cost a bomb, so I can't pretend that there's not a little bit of a financial consideration on my part...
Do you think I should have a little hen night to humour everyone? Or should I stick to my guns?
Did anyone on here not have one and feel they missed out? Or have one and think it really wasn't worth it?
Thanks for the advice

I just want to go out for a nice meal and for some drinks afterwards.
I don't want to be spending a silly amount of money on a hen night.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
I didn't have one - never felt I'd missed out, and the marriage has lasted 25 years, so I guess it can't have been a critical thing...
What I did do as I was getting married away from home, was spend an evening with a few very close friends a couple of nights before, having a nice meal and drink in a local pub; as husband to be and his few close friends ended up joining us and sharing a couple of drinks, it wouldn't really count as a hen or stag night, I wouldn't think.
I just think you should only ever do what makes sense to you, with these kinds of things. In my opinion, the whole 'hen/stag' thing is overrated and a little bit silly, but the, I am rrrrreeeeaaaalllllly old, so may not quite be in the swing of all these modern trends!!Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0 -

I don't want a hen night. I don't feel I'm missing about at all. I feel as though my years of prancing around the town getting drunk and being daft are well and truly behind me.
The traditionl hen/stag nights were suppodedly to celebrate a person's 'last night of freedom' well for us that passed by 12 years ago :rotfl:
We are going out with both sets of parents for a nice meal the night before the wedding, that'll do me nicely.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. JUst dont have the normal type of one you can just go:beer: for a meal with your friends and have soem drink this is what I am doing again as of cost I dont think my FI is having one though due to money. I have decided to go for a greek meal they have a DJ and plate smashing night so no one needs to move which I like the idea of so we can all stay in the same place also the meal is only fifteen pound for a banquet, try looking for something like this xLoves Vegas shopping and beauty products!0 -
I'm having 3

Had a small one with the girls from work last night. 9.95 at local hotel for chicken in a basket and a disco!
Then I'm having my 'proper' one organised by chief bridesmaid with my close friends and family which is at a chinese where they hold 'party nights'
Finally I will be having a tiny little one with 2 friends (who don;t know or live near the friends at the others nights) where we will just go to the pub and have a bottle of wine and a good chat.
The important thing for me is just an excuse to celebrate with my nearest and dearest lol xxxMummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0 -
I had a meal cooked for me and a group of friends. We spent the night eating, drinking and talking. I wouldn't have done it any other way.

I didn't have a hen night, and don't regret it. If you don't want one, don't have one, it's your wedding and you should have things exactly how you and your HTB want. It's not like you won't be able to go out with your friends and family after you're married.0
