I have just sent off my details to betterware inquiring about their distributor jobs, where you deliver betterware catalogues in your area. I'm quite nervous about it, but only because it's the thought of doing something new. I already have a full time job, but it's not enough, and right now I've been off work with a back injury since Jan, and I'm signed off for at least another 3 weeks. I'm thinking I could put this time to good use, and to get me out walking which will help my back.
So, is anyone doing betterware? Or know anything about working for them? They say they will contact me in 5 days, and I know I can always say no if it doesn't sound good. I just want to get an idea of what I might be getting myself into
Thanks.

I'd be a little worried about doing Betterware if you have a bad back, some of the items they sell are a little bulky and on the heavier side, so unless you drive you might have problems getting them out to people. Have you thought about Avon, most of the products they sell are make up and toilettries, although I imagine a lot of bubble bath would be quite heavy too! So be careful! Although if you're feeling brave maybe you can do both Betterware and Avon together, twice the prospect of orders in the same time!
I've never done catalogue distributing myself but my mum and my aunt have both done Betterware and Avon and managed to do ok. Like all self employed jobs of this nature, you won't get rich doing it and you pretty much get out what you put in. If you regularly go to any clubs or anything then take your brochures with you as you might grab some potential customers there and likewise if you know anyone who works in a busy office, get them to take a few brochures to work with them. A girl brings Avon books into our office for her sister and gets quite a few orders from us girlies!
Anyway, good luck!0 -
I do Betterware and am on my first week, collecting my brochures hopefully today if people have left them outside.
The thing I like about it is you dont pay for the catalogues so dont have to keep bugging people to get them back.

I would also caution about working while off sick, in many places I work and have worked that would be gross misconduct and possibly a sacking offence if prior permission was not obtained.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'd have to say that if you have a bad back then catalogue delivering wouldn't be a good idea! I can get really bad aches in my shoulders when I overdo it - and when I'm carting round Avon books it really takes it out of you! And especially when you are collecting the books back up again, as obviously you are having to not only carry the books, but also bend down to pick up a book at each house, which I imagine for a bad back would just aggrevate the condition.Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0

Thanks for the advice all. I am really having doubts about it so think it's best I say no if they ring. I really didn't think about the products I'd be delivering, I was only thinking about the catalogues. I was planning on using a trolley you see old women use for shopping to carry the catalogues!!
I have thought about Avon, but it sounds a bit confusing. I also don't like the idea that you'll need to make £78 to get any commission. Thats a lot of orders!
I used to do Ann Summers a few years ago and that wasn't for me, I'm just not the type to host parties. Plus I found it very hard to get parties. So that sort of thing is out.
What about the catalogue delivering/collecting ad's in the local papers? Has anyone tried them? There's a couple that say they are small catalogues. If it's just delivering and collecting again that it fine with me. But how do you get paid? I assume you only do if people order stuff like Betterware/Avon. Hmmm guess I need a rethink.0
