Unwanted gift recycling

  • I regularly give bits to charity that have been given to me as gifts, that way I feel it really has gone to a good cause of my choice.
Or use for school tombolas, they're always asking!!
I gave a bottle of whiskey, :A that someone gave me (can't stand the stuff) to a charity raffle, and it certainly bumped up the ticket sales.

Its no problem recycling gifts. Vouchers are not so easy. I have £25 worth of M&S vouchers. Thats alot of money to waste. Can I use these elsewhere?

the trouble is that £25 spent at M&S wont get as much food as you would at a cheaper supermarket.

vouchers always seem to go quite well on ebay, have a look and see what people are willing to pay. It won't be the full value but might be worth more to you that way.

Have a look at https://www.freecycle.org a sort of swop shop for goods & services. You could offer the unwanted pressie and see what's offered in return

    always always recycle pressies!!!!

If i cant take it back for refund/exchange i will sit down with the box and think who can i give that to, and work it out on all the years birthdays.

I have even done it with some of little miss divadees pressies that she has got i have recycled them for other peoples birthday parties :D I dont thin kit makes you mean or ungrateful.

What i have done in the past as well. Is i have put the money away that i would of spent on that persons present and then saved it up and bought something i really like or wanted so i to get a nice present!!!

When I receive gifts that I don't need/want, I pass them to friends. I hope to do some boot sales in the summer for inexpensive items. I have however found a great web site for recycling called freecycle. It is for members to post unwanted items and to advertise for wanted items. There are locally based groups and I'm lucky to have a group centred 8 miles away. It's free to join and use. I can reccomend it.

  • In a bid to be an eco friendly minimal- consumer, last year I suggested to friends & family a (voluntary!) policy for xmas /birthdays. Bargains welcome and encouraged and the aim is for gifts that are either fair trade, recycled or charity related. This obviously means that in some cases gifts I gave and received were unwanted re-given gifts. I must admit that in the past I disapproved of this, and its only the awareness of how much money is wasted on consumerism and an almost obsessive enjoyment of recycling, that now permits me to change my mind!

    Hi

I wondered if anybody knew of any charity shops that took unused make-up or if you can recycle.

If anybody knows or has any other ideas I would appreciate a reply.

    Thanks
