Quality Speakers For Your Ipod [CLOSED]

For those searching for a quality speaker system for your ipod take a look at i-Deck System on the apple store website.

Apple are doing £50 rebate on the system until 20th March so you only pay £150 ! The £50 rebate allows you to purchase more music on iTunes.

Avaliable in white and black:

This unit cost £250 when it was first released in Sep 2005.

More info and justification:

The speakers are made by 'Monitor Audio' which is a British company who have been making very high quality hi-fi speakers for 30years. It has recieved great reviews (just google for 'i-deck review'). It recieved 5 STARS by 'What Hifi' Magazine and was voted best MP3 speaker accessory award for 2005.

Anyway well worth considering I doubt you will get it any cheaper later on in the year.

I am not getting the rebate showing up at checkout. I can't make head or tale whether the £50 off is off the original price of £249 or from £199 !

Can anyone else please explain what they see when they get to the CC payment stage. Mine is still saying £199 with no mention of a rebate.

Also, is the rebate a recuction in the price or simply a credit for another Apple purchase ?

FF99 it should be charging you £149.99 with the rebate because that is what I paid. (The normal retail price is £199.99).

Yesterday when I came to final stage of payment it deducted £50 from the price and correctly charged my credit card £149.99

Went to test it out again today EXACTLY SAME PROCEDURE and yes you are correct its now trying to bill me £199.99 !!!!

Phoned up apple sales just now to ask them what was going on and got transfered to america....

US woman said that if I get billed £199.99 then I should phone apple after sales and they will refund the difference as on the website it states there is a £50 rebate on it till 20th March. It explictly states on the on the website:

Rebate will be applied on your basket, on check-out.

Not sure if this is within the law....sounds dodgy to me !

I said its misleading to customers it should display the correct price at the checkout which should be £149.99 like it did with me yesterday.

Can someone also verify this with apple sales support ??!

I too am wondering if this price of £199 is after the discount. I had a look at the black edition of this a couple of weeks back priced at £250 (as santa brought me a black 60Gb iPod :) ) but decided to wait until I'd seen the unit in store.

Tonight I've tried placing two different orders. The first for an AV connection kit, and black i-Deck. With this I tried the £23 discount voucher I'd been emailed earlier this month, but noticed just after placing that the £50 wasn't valid in conjunction with the evoucher. After placing your order you have to wait up to an hour before you can view or make changes to this. The confirmation was for £199 + the av kit, then £23 discount, but no £50 rebate as far as I could see.

I canceled this order and placed a new one identical but for the use of the £23 evoucher. The confirmation for this one again gave me a total of £199 +av kit, but no discount at all this time.

I can only presume the £50 has already been discounted, but it's very unclear on this.

Anyone heard anything more about why this one's been pulled?

This has become a total mystry !!! The product has now been totally removed from the website. I can only assume it was too popular and been withdrawn.

My own opinion is that Apple have removed it because it was too competitive in terms of price and sound quality when comparing it to the 'iPod HiFi' which was made avaliable last week. They simply want customers to buy thier over priced Apple branded products instead !

Anyway if you still want to buy this product go to http://www.i-deck.com for alternative retailers. The RRP for this product is £199.99.

Hmmm, through kelkoo, I've found a link to the product, but there's no option to buy.

    At £150 I could've stretched maybe, but not £200.

I reckon Apple drew up a contract with Monitor Audio saying they want to withdraw thier product from thier website when the 'ipod hifi' is released or specified some dates (around the time it was planned to be released). To compensate them (extra revenue through extra sales) Apple offered a £50 rebate on the product...I reckon thats what really happened. They knew it was aggressively priced and would directly compete with it.

    Oh well.
