As an avid reader of and occasional contributor to Money Saving, I am constantly amazed by the depth and breadth of the knowledge of your readers. (and also by the sometimes sheer ignorance- but not often) and I got to thinking.............(doesn't happen often) does the U S and Aus have a similar sort of WWW to turn to? Where do the other chaps in the world plug into for their problem solving..................

Here in SA there is nothing like this site..... I use this one and try to substitute similar ingredients etc. Obviously the specials etc wont apply.. I am just so jealous as to the variety of cheaper foodstuffs available to UK market...0

There is a site in New Zealand called Destitute Gourmet which is quite similar to this board:

........just trying to find it..........0

There are loads of US sites about living frugally. Just do a google search.
This one is quite comprehensive The Dollar Stretcher0 -
Aus has a few, Simple Savings is probably the biggest and has lots of NZ members as well. I was a member there before I started lurking here to prepare for my (hopeful) move to the UK soon.0

There's nothing like MSE here in the Gulf region and I'm going to have to change my ways somewhat after I return to the UK in a few months time. Recycling here is almost non existent & petrol and electricity costs are not even worth budgeting for though food prices and rents are rising all the time. Internet charges, phone bill and satellite TV are also very pricey.
(Having said that I'm naturally frugal and hate waste. I take after my dad and am always going behind the rest of the family turning off lights etc.)0 -
