We have dumped the bank who were "the straw that broke the camel's back" and opened a new bank account(for our benefits) since sending off the BR forms..do we need to inform them of this?
cheers

I think you should be OK isabella. The form says that you should tick 'yes' if you own any individual possessions worth more than £1000. Your car and motorbike are - individually - worth less than that. As long as they're not worth more than £10,000 when added together (along with any other non-essential possessions), then you're fine.
(The list of 'essential' possessions is pretty long, and covers your furniture, TV, fridge etc, so it's extremely unlikely that you'd be over the £10,000 limit).0 -
thanks for post coolcait. you are right and let this be a lesson to all others. the application form should be amended to ask if you have a car, whatever the value you may think. it doesn't, it only asks if you have any asset over 1000. this left me to make the decision that i felt the car was in poor condition and accept an estimated valuation taken from an internet website.
i admit, of course, i knew this to be risky and it's caused me months of indecision about taking this step. as no excuse but just to offer insight, i believed at first the car would be reposessed. the credit agreement was not apparently an hp agreement as i believed but a special car loan so they can take the car but they can also chase you for money or both. i paid 3.5 years out of 5 for the car, i thought i could just give it back or they would take it eventually. stupid and i should have checked this out.
i am so grateful for your help now and in the past, please do not even contemplate your advice is not taken seriously or that you offered loopholes. i am so very sorry i've made you feel this way.
words can't describe how disappointed i am with myself for making you point out my abuse of the lila system and all i can hope is others read this and don't make the same assumptions that i have. the truth is i am not clever and i am not honest.
sincere apologies to all.0
