Hi,
I cut my o/hs hair and want a decent set of hair clippers.
I use Nicky Clarke ones at the moment but they're a bit slow and not that good.
Does anyone know where I can get some professional ones or the best non-professional ones I can buy?
thanks

We use Wahl clippers.Been doing our own for about 15 years and still use the same ones.
Some Hairdressers can get you the spare attachments if you pay for them.
You must remember to oil them every time to keep them working well.
I think clippers come with more attachments now than they used to, if we ever buy another set I'd look for the angled ear 'combs' and larger sized 'combs' as they woud definitely make things a bit faster.0 -
Oh no! I just bought nicky clarke ones yesterday!
We have been using Remmington ones for 7 years to cut both by husbnand and my sons hair. But my son says they 'hurt' mow I think they snag every now and then...so I was joping the Nicky clark ones with the ceramic cutters would be better!
These are the ones I bought yesterday...

I haven't opened the box, but they are excluded from the 16 day money back guarentee

DON'T WORRY!!!! They're not the same as the ones I've got ;D
Mine are the older, chrome ones. They're not bad, they're just a bit slow and my o/h wants fancy haircuts ::)
I've had a look at the Wahl ones, about £40 and look very professional. I think I saw somewhere that they use Wahl in the American Army though so I'm presuming that they're good.Just run, run and keep on running!0 -

if they snag You probably need to realign the blades, there should be a screw somewhere on the clippers to do it.If you hold them up you should be able to see if one set (either front or back) looks crooked.0 -
My son and myself both get our hair clipped at home. We've just chucked out our Wahl clippers (3-4 years old, bought at John Lewis for about £15) and replaced the with Scherna ceramic clippers (around £20 from Kays online with 10% first order discount).
They seem a bit slow cordless but plugged-in they give a very neat and comfortable cut. Much better than metal blades!
They come with the usual assessories plus a tram-lining attachment."Beer. Now there's a temporary solution." Homer (Simpson)0 -
Scherna ceramic clippers
Thanks for that!
I've been looking for a decent set of hair clippers for the FIL and these seem ideal.
Recommendations anyone?
I assume the clippers you ordered are the same as "Argos 442/1290"?
If so, they work out at the same price as "Kays" (with discount) at £19.99 (useful for those who won't benefit from the 10% first order saving).
Also come with manufacturer's 3-year guarantee, which is pretty good.0
