P87 - When to submit?

Hey all

I'm new to this claiming business mileage malarky as have only used car for business purposes since March this year.

For March my employer paid 40p/mile, but from April this is dropping to 25p/mile.

I've been told I can claim tax relief on the 'missing' 15p/mile and have been told to either use form P87 or write to tax office.

Do I do this now or at end of tax year 2009/10?

You have to wait until the end of the tax year for which you are claiming, after all, till the year is over you will not know how many miles to claim for.

That's what I thought so was confused when my employer sent me the link to download the P87 this week!
