Ciao Premium Fund Payouts

I understand that the way Ciao work out how it distributes it's premium fund is a closely guarded secret. I see that some people write what seem to be essays on a product and then receive plenty of 'exceptional' ratings.
What I wanted to know, (if anyone is willing to disclose), is if writing that much really is worth it? What is the best premium fund payout you have had in recent times? How many reviews did you tend to write?
Just wondering....

I got a premium fund payment on my very first review I wrote for Ciao... never had one since though and I don't get a huge amount of 'exceptional' ratings, I think people tend to save those for their 'friends'!0

I had done about 50 reviews over 3 or 4 years without anything from the premium fund.
Then one month, when i hadn't written any reviews, i got £2 from the premium fund. Not sure why, or which of my reviews it was for, but the money was welcome!0 -
I wrote 2 reviews for Ciao before Christmas, and I hadn't been back on the site until mid-March. I was pleasantly surprised to see my total was £4.20. Not many people had rated my reviews, so I presume both of mine must have been awarded money from the premium fund.
Mind you, I've written another few reviews and my total is now at £4.41 so I guess it's just luck of the draw. None of them are essays, per se, but then I can be ridiculously verbose sometimes£10 a day: March - August: £1653.54/£1840; September £92.86/£300NSD: April - August: 49 NSDs; September: 9/12101 in 1001 Project: 05/07/09 - 01/04/12 (8/101 completed)0 -
If I'm on the site regularly I tend to get £2 a month sometimes even if I havent written anything, but generally when I'm being all round active (rating and writing) I seemed to get at least £2 every month. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

My trick was to look for items I had used and were new on the market be the first to write a review - I'd look at other sites and get a general feel and then submit - if anyone thought it wasn't good enough - I'd ask them why - they'd give me some more info on the product and I'd add this in. But I got bored after about three items and it took far too long - so I closed my ciao account - there was about 20p in there - so no loss.'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts' : Member number 632
