So glad to hear you are OK Mel. Shame you don't work with me, I would bring you food everyday like I do for my colleagues. Dad is getting along just fine now. He is making a terrific recovery. Thanks to all for their prayers. Let me know if you are ever up in Leeds Mel.
ZOESCRIMS + GEORDIE_LASS: Here is the recipe for the Dahl and Tarka. INGREDIENTS: 3 cupfuls of Moong Dahl (little yellow lentils, can get them from Asian grocers and even Tesco/Asda). 1 medium onion. Various spices including chilli powder, turmeric powder, curry powder, cumin seeds, ginger and garlic paste. Oil to cook.
METHOD: Flick through the lentils and get rid of any little stones etc. Warm water in a bowl and let the lentils soak for about 3 hours. Then go to Boots and buy lots of stuff. 3 hours later, wash the lentils so all the cloudy water disappears. Put in a huge pot, add a few cups of water, then the lentils, and let it all cookfor about an hour or two. Should be mushy by the end of it, if not, you can always use a blender to make it smooth and runny if you like it like that. Then finely dice the onion. To make the TARKA, put onion in a frying pan and add 1 tsp of salt, no oil yet. Put the gas on. Let the onions dry fry for a few minutes so all the water content is cooked off (could add oil. Keep mixing, should be brownish by now. Add 3 tbsp of oil (quite a lot but the lentils will be very dry if not enough oil). Mix for about a minute. Then add the cumin seeds, (kitchen will be filled with aromatic smells). 1 minute later, add 1 tbsp of ginger and garlic paste (or fresh and chopped), followed by 2 tsp of chilli powder, curry powder, turmeric powder. Mix it all up, let the spices warm up. Put the gas off for the TARKA. Mix the lentil soup and then add the TARKA to it. Cook for another 15 minutes on low heat and tada, done! Lovely with warm chappatis.0 -

Hi All
I was in Lakeside Boots yesterday evening and all the Fancy Hair Clips, Hair Bands, Sequin Bags, Beaded Clutch Bags and Necklaces were 1/2 Price.
The 3 Clear Natural Make Up bags still scan at £4.89 and all 3 of the S&G Make up bags are still full price....Although some of the other makeup bags are on clearance.
I did buy the No 17 facewipes and got the free nail polish... although they don't seem to be restocking the shelves, Very limited range.
I have lots of reading to catch up on but i hope this helps someone..

Hi Everyone,
received an email from boots yesterday, Here is what it said:
Did you know that from 30th April 09, Boots Health Club will become a Club for customers aged 60 and over?
Customers aged under 60 may still receive health related advice, information and offers from Boots Advantage Card.
Sorry if already posted, hth0 -
:wave:Hi everyone,
Just got back from town and a quick visit to my local Boots (saving my energy/money for my birthday shopping/bootsing in London on Tuesday!!:D) Just to let everyone know that all the No7 rainbow palettes are now gone along with the No7 tan maintainer!! Still a couple of No7 spring palettes but probably because they are still priced at £5.38... I think!!
:AThanks to Rats09 I did manage to pick up the last Boots Travel vanity case which was £4.90 (£9.79 on .com) and I also managed to pick up 3 of the Nivea trio lipglosses which were hanging from the shelves in 2 aisles and with a full priced SEL!!! I took them to the till and sure enough they went through at £1.23 each and 3 for 2 so £2.26 for all 3 - go grab them before they go....
Clearance stand was still the same and looked to me like no-one had brought anything from it since Wednesday!!! I'm not suprised though cause most of it has no price on it!!
Off topic... sorry... But I popped into Wilko's too and they were reducing their table lamps and a few other things which were just inside the entrance down to 75% and when I went to the back of the shop they had a clearance stand which had a few things half price but my main bargain was a pack of 4 heinz baked beans for 53p - I picked up 2 cause I couldn't carry any more but still a few left!!!:D
Anyone spot any good bargains in London (gwp, etc...) over the weekend especially near Kensington then please let me know so I know what/where to look when I go on Tuesday (have a busy day booked!!!):j
Have a great weekend everyone - especially my local Bootsers... Rats09, sally06 and Dee753 - thanks for all your help.. :A0 -
