Basis wine

Went in sainsburys yesterday and noticed a midle aged couple loitering around the wine aisle. The woman bent down and excitedly said to hubby ooooh theres just three at the back and promptly grabbed three bottles of Spanish red wine the basics variety. So presuming she must cook with it I dismissed the idea of fighting her for one but on passing the basics white wine thought i'll give it a go despite the embarrassment of it being in me trolley. Its really nice says dry but its crisp and refreshing after being in freezer for half an hour and no hangover next day. £2.49 a bottle cant go wrong will be back for more.

Why would the presence of a Basics wine in your trolley be a source of embarrassment to you?

maybe because some people fear they would get judged, could be wrong though0 -
I use the basics red a lot for cooking, it's perfectly fine

We use our for quoffing and we are not in the slightest bit embarrassed about it, lol. We have a couple of friends who are really nice folk - but incredibly snobby about wine for some reason and scoffed at us buying Basics red wine. Until we challenged them to a blind taste test with that and a bottle of their £20 red. You can imagine the result and their embarrassment. Maybe that's why 'wine buffs' are normally very reluctant to get involved in blind taste sessions......Call me Carmine....

Exactly. They could just call it "Basis wine" if there is a problem.
