Photo Driving Licence

Afternoon all
I have an old style paper driving licence and would like to exchange it for a new photo style card & paper.
Had a couple of occassions recently where having a photo id card would have been useful - rather than carrying passport around.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how to do it on the cheap, rather than pay the full amount to get it replaced.
Thanks

Nope - you got to pay up for the conversion to the photo licence.
But to update the photos when you got it is free IIRC (it is free when as I just got my training licence for LGV)0 -
if you move house or get married - and change name - i think you can have it done for free....any plans????

I didn't pay, I just filled in my change of address and sent it to them, they sent back the application for a photo card and did not charge a fee, this was around 12 months ago so they may have tightened up since then!0

I passed my motorbike test in nov,so i upgraded to a photo one for free because it was adding an entitlement.
I have since sent for my provisional LGV which is also free.Sponsored by Tesco Clubcard Points !!0 -
Its worth remembering a paper licence you can have until you need to change any of the details on it. A photo licence has to be replaced every 10 years regardless.
Is there anything else you could use for photo ID? Students have connection cards.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

then why did my photo licence run out in 50 years time?0 -
Thats because thats when you licence to drive expires (ie when your 70, or is it 75?).
Look at section 4b on the front of the card, thats when you need a new photo card.Money For Nothing: £365.96 as of 01/01/110 -
Be aware that a photo driving license is not technically complete unless presented along with the paper part!
Banks for instance often require both parts if you use a license for ID.
