Make Up Lessons

A strange request maybe?

My girlfriend, who I adore, would like to learn how to use make up properly.

I think she looks lovely as she is, but she would like to learn how to improve on perfection. She was pretty much a tomboy growing up and missed all the girly sharing of secrets.

She's been to the make up counter and had a couple of sessions, but that's the beautician applying and she never gets to learn properly how it's done. And you only get the one look, she's like to learn all the secrets. She also feels under pressure to buy there.

Is there anywhere we can go (in the North East preferably) where she can spend a few hours learning the "tips of the trade" on how to use make up properly???

I'd be eternally grateful for any help you can give...

Hi, there is a lady called Samantha Chapman who has loads of tutorial videos on youtube. Also http://www.makeupadviceforum.co.uk/ is worth a look. HTH

  • My wife said just the same thing to me, I reckon she looks gorgeous but if that's what she wants then so be it.

I've only just started looking so will let you know if I find anything interesting...

Some make-up counter assistants - or "beauty consultants" as they like to be known - are the scariest looking things on the planet. Sometimes whilst browsing I catch sight of one and have to stop myself from dragging them to a sink by the hair and giving them a good scrub with soap and water (and this comes from one who loves her make-up).

Make-up can dramatically improve looks and self-confidence but unless you really fancy Nancy Dell Ollio I would recommend that GF stays well away. Years of experience have taught me how to make something from very little so GF may want to ask someone she knows with good taste for advice.

I know what you mean (and so does she) which is why she'd like lessons.

You'd think this sort of thing would be available as you see so many young ladies who look like they could be rather pretty underneath the layers of paint, a bit like slapping dulux on a chippendale ;)
