I am just wondering if anyone knows of any great shops either internet or high street where I can get some cheap but smart clothes for my daughters work experience now here comes the problem.
she is 15 years old but ultra thin she does not even really fit into a size 4 as it can be too big on her waist but she also can't fit into kids clothes as they are then too short we are fine as far as tops go but it is the trousers/skirts that I know we are going to have trouble with. She also refuses to wear an elasticated or adjustable waist band. She is going to be doing her work experience in a solicitors and needs to look smart any advice would be greatly appreciated

can't say i can identify with her problem :rotfl: all I can think of really is investing in a tailor and getting one or two key pieces either made from scratch, or adjusted from a bigger size. Some shops have sizes which often come up smaller than you would expect, I can't think of any to hand but somewhere like H&M perhaps, if you got a 6 it might be OK. If she's not into elasticated waistbands (fair enough really!!) then waist belts are very fashionable at the moment. if she got a smart dress or something then she could wear one of those to stop it being shapeless. Otherwise, enough layers of thermals to pad out a 6 (can't believe I'm saying that!) or get her a few cream cakes to put some meat on her bones.
Sorry I can't help with any petite shops, not really my forte
Hope you find something.
EDIT: If it's bottoms which are the problem, you might be able to knock up a few skirts on a sewing machine as they are pretty simple, or ask a friend who can.0 -
I used to have the same problem when I was the same age. My mum used to buy me me bits in the next sale and then we would get them altered. I am tall so I sympathise
although I don't have this problem any more!!

Zara does a size XS and their Zara Basics line (shirts, trousers, t-shirts etc) is reasonably priced. Also, GAP may have some suitable things too...I used to work with a very petite girl who bought a lot of her work clothes there.0

my friend is 23 and like this! I recommend the more designer areas of stores like house of fraiser/john lewis etc or Zara as the poster above says.
Designer items are normally smaller and are often easier to buy in a 4.
Alternatively, I get most of my trousers tailored cheaply at johnsons dry cleaners- perhaps ask if they would do a discount for getting a few things done?If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -
Another vote for Zara.
The cut is so good and cut to smaller European sizes in general.0 -
I have a similar problem with DD who is petite size 4/6.
On the high street and also online, Top Shop, Miss Selfridge and Dorothy Perkins petites do some good formal stuff in size 4 upwards.
H&M do some small sizes, but I tend to have to take skirts in at the waist. DD has formal jackets in a 34 (UK 6) from H&M and New Look.
ASOS online is very good for small sizes and small size shoes. They have some good sales and often deliver the next day.
Good luck, I really hope you find something suitable.0
