Tesco Online Shopping Delivery Charges

Hey, don't know if everyone is aware of this but did you know that Tesco charge your card before they deliver the goods? Normally this isn't a problem but this week, they charged me, didn't deliver and posted a status on the website that they had delivered. Just had a major telephone argument as several days after they failed to turn up, they still hadn't even started the refund process and they claim this is fine and all in line with their terms and conditions! So even though it was not my fault and I dont have the goods, I am deprived of my week's shopping money for a week or two until they decide to put it right! In these hard times, that could be the difference between the family eating or not! Buyers beware!

i shop online with tesco. and though i have never had this problem, one week i gave the driver two items back as they were not suitable, i waited two weeks to get my refund, and they take money off your card when they have physically done your shopping, so how they made your error i dont know!!0

it sounds like they could have possibley delivered this to the wrong house, and thats why they are insisting it has been delivered. try contacting your card company see if you can claim through them0

What about sending them an angry e-mail also?
I've had problems with them before, but only small problems.
But they always refunded things immediately (=within 3 days it will appear in your bankaccount)0 -
Sure u have to sign for ur goods, if u not recieved them they will not have your sig on the delivery form...SIMPLES!0

Finally got my refund. My point though was that it was they who at 21:45 decided that they couldn't actually deliver my order yet decided to 'pick it' and charge me anyway. Apparently, you are charged when they 'pick it' automatically. I do wonder why they decided to pick it when they knew they couldn't deliver it.
As it happened, I was able to go and do my shopping elsewhere but with so many people so hard up these days, I find it unacceptable that a large chain can do this - some people might have really struggled to find that amount of money twice! (i.e. once until Tesco got around to refunding and again to actually get the food required at another shop). It also grated that they didn't even start the refund process until I noticed 2 days later that they had taken the money from my account. If it is an automatic charge when 'picked', shouldn't it be an automatic refund when it is 'unpicked'?
I guess its a 'feature' of online grocery shopping but I really do think it immoral and a pretty poor process for the consumer.
Thanks for all comments and letting me vent :rolleyes:0 -
put a complaint in writing n send it off giving them 14 days to reply.... educate themSIMPLES!0

the charge is never fully taken off my card until the day after they deliver [although it shows in 'pending' [online]]
also, I am pleased that my midweek delivery charge actually went down by a pound recently.0 -
