you cant get beter than a vango tent for quality. I have use loads of the smaller tents force10 and force10 extrems and the bif old group tent they sell they are fantastic. and still look like new after years of regular use. I think the local scouts still use some of the group tents that are 30 years old.
My dad bought some of the venture 500's receintly for less than 100 from somewhere in Blackpool I think, I will ask him later, they are 5 man tents witha huge porch on them.
You are proberbly looking for a 2 room tent 3+2 confuguration to give the kids and yourselves some privacy maybe the Colorado 600 but when you start getting the 2 room tents the prices go up quite a bit. I would never buy a tent without seeing it pitched, they can look very small in the pictures and end up huge when you have them up. buying a Vango tent will last you ages so dont just think about buying it for your current family size they will grow so buy a tent that will bee ok when you have 3 bigger children they then get the 3 person room0 -
hi, we got a 5 man coleman dome tent to add to our growing collection (now standing @ 5)fromhere
the service was gr8 very prompt delivery & a great price
happy camping!
cheers
d.
soz it wasn't a coleman its a wynster (skrike 5) we've used it for a few weekends, it performed well, no leaks & v easy to put up/take down
its all in 1 big compartment so its one awake all awake especially with the 5yr old hooligan in our midst! but it does have a porch to store all the stuff inIts a tough old world, no one gets out alive! :rolleyes:0 -
i like the size of the Colorado 600DLX as i think the 600 would be too small in a year or so.
waiting to find out were your dad got his 500Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -
Vango are great tents. We have a TBS Oregon 600, lots of room for a growing family, large inner tent is extremly generous for 4 people(adults), small inner tent is very cosy for 2 adults and luggage. We often only use the larger inner tent and have greater living space, usually end up using to storing the bikes.
Some tents are unusual shapes (with pods sticking out) bear in mind these need a large area to pitch than some other designs and at busy times you may find it difficult to find an adequate sized pitch.
When we were looking to buy a tent we ensured it was outer tent first, IMO essential in our varied weather conditions.

There is a comapany called Khyam that makes the quick erect tents, I have seen them we looked at buying one but the quality was poor, the hinges of the poles didnt look/feel up to much.
After a few tries most tents can be put up within 5-10 minutes, just what ever you do dont turn up to your first camp site and learn how to put the tent up, find a field or big garden and put it up and put it back in the bag a few times just to get the hang of it and also so you can look like experienced campers infornt of everyone else on the site.0
