I need desperate help!
My oh works in a factory and he and his friend had an argument( no fighting) on tues, when he went to clock out his manager called him to the office to suspend him for "fighting"
Yesterday he went in for a meeting to give his statement of events and he and the guy involved both said the same thing "there was no fighting"
Some guy (who OH has had been bullied before by)app went and told the bosses they had been fighting and different people have been called in and all who was there at the time said "just an argument" (apparntley- they all rang my OH after being called in to tell him this )
he went in there an hour ago for another meeting and they kept saying to him " now we've looked at the cctv evidence and if there anything u need to tell us you'd be better to do it now!!!"
my OH is telling me this was not the case and that him and the guy agree it was nothingv vicious and is blown out of proportion!
the other factor is people have been told that they may be made redundant due to the credit crunch.
are they trying to push him out?
i cant believe this is happening and i feel sick thinking about it.OH wont go to a solicitor because he doesnt want to make things worse at the minute while they're making there decision!!!
is this unfair dissmissal (if he gets sacked)
Please can someone help me, we couldnt cope on my wage alone and it doesnt even bear thinking about!!
i understand other people may be worse positions at the moment but i just feel like i need to be sick!!!!!

Probably any evidence from CCTV would show there was no fighting. It seems to me they don't have the evidence and so would be very silly to proceed with a disciplinary.0

exactly what i thought, if the majority of people are saying it was nothing and they have CCTV but doesnt show anything untoward then can they assume the person who told is telling the truth???

Hi,
Did he take a witness in with him .... because if this is a proper disp process he should have been allowed to ...
Ders he belong to Union - if so call them.

he had someone with him from the union...
the guy my OH had the argument with are friends and a while back the same guys who told this "story" cornered them about another thing and tried to make them admit they threw a stink bomb and if they did own up they would try and save both their jobs!!
i know this sounds like a playground but its serious and these guys are managers and nothing happened to them the last time!!
it is ridiculous that theyve created this story it is so childish but at the end of the day its 2 people's jobs on the line!!Now a mother to my beautiful daughter OliviaBorn 10th Dec 2010 weighing 7lb 1oz:A

Your husband is there to work, not conduct childish games and arguments (be they physical or otherwise) with friends.0

You need to consider that other people may have a different definition of fighting to you. Personally, I would class a verbal argument as fighting. Irrespective of the terminology used, such behaviour is rarely acceptable in the workplace.
You note that 'this sounds like a playground', but it appears to be your OH and his friend that are making it that way. If they are not dismissed (and this would depend on several factors), then they really need to look at the way they conduct themselves in the workplace.Gone ... or have I?0
