They have had Ecover for a while but just seen

Green Force washing up liquid/ washing powder/ dishwasher tablets (similarly priced to supermarket own brand)
The Green Sack recycled/ British dustbin bags (£2.50 for 50)
Bamboo cloths in biodegradable packaging (£1.37 for 2)

  • I use the Green Force laundry detergent (cost approx £1.80 or more), and it gets another bonus point from me because it's suitable for vegans too. I use approx 50ml of the stuff per wash, with a splash of distilled white vinegar to soften. I usually chuck a bit of bicarbonate of soda in too for a white load. I love the smell of the laundry detergent... sort of a lavendery-licorice sort of smell.

I haven't tried any other products in the range because I use bicarbonate of soda, lemon juice and distilled white vinegar for cleaning.

Oh, I also use Morrison's natural washing up liquid (cheaper than Ecover at approx 95p) and it is also vegan. Ecover products no longer display the Vegan society symbol so I would rather not buy them. The Morrison's bottle lasts a while, smells lovely and lemony, and does the job without leaving loads of chemicals on your dishes.

Wouldn't using bicarb (alkali) and vinegar (acid) in the same wash load simply cancel each other out?

A warning on Ecover. I bought some last week thinking that I may have found something natural to use as I have contact excema. Was I wrong! I used it very diluted and for the last couple of days the skin on my hands has been peeling off. I am allergic to products containing alcohol and on reading the Ecover ingrediants it contains plant based alcohol. (Yeast plus sugar equal alcohol I suppose).
So far the only stuff I have been able to use without problems is Surcare plus getting a dishwasher!
