Newbie post about Lloyds and AIC

Hi chaps, newbie post here - been aware of the sterling work this site does, just the first time I've had to ask a question.

I've got a current and business account, and a mastercard, all with Lloyds. My mastercard is frozen and I'm paying it off a little every month, so that one's ok, my business account I have to use for my salary to go into - I work full time but used to be self employed, been employed since Sept 2006 since moving to London.
The current account has been overdrawn for quite a while, but agreed a payment plan with Lloyds in 2006, of originally £10 a month, then £20 a month, which I have been rigidly sticking to.
I moved house in January 2008 and went into the Leytonstone branch of Lloyds to fill out their change of address form - was printed on the form it applied to all accounts I had.
Been into the bank today to pay my £20 to be told the account has been closed, the debt has been given to the Consumer Debt Recovery department, and that Lloyds have been sending me 'loads' of letters about it - you guessed it - to the address I left in Jan 2008. I naively hadn't noticed the lack of correspondance, as I thought I was OK on the agreed plan, my BIG mistake.
Rang the CDR chaps, who told me it has been given straight out to Allied International Credit, who tell me the debt is now £2129.76 - originally it was around £1400 - and there's nothing they can do, apart from take £1277 from me and call it quits. Or ask for £425 BEFORE even talking about monthly payments. According to the

Been back to Lloyds, and everyone is passing the buck backwards and forwards. I've just logged all this as a complaint, as if I'd been told of the problem, I would have acted sooner, apparently one of the charges was £215 unauthorised overdraft.

As the complaints department can take up to 2 months for an answer, is there anything I can go back to Allied with? The guy there said he can freeze the account (big of him) but only until the 30th April, and there's no way I can find £425 just to be put on a payment plan - we're living off my salary at the moment as my wife's just had a little boy, and her statutory maternity pay ends in June.

Thanks in advance of any help!

I'm not totally clued up on financial stuff but I'm guessing you've got a pretty good case to take to the financial ombudsman. Lodge a complaint with them and they'll do most of the work for you and you'll probably be able to claim back all the charges. I would do this sooner than later as I know they deal with alot of complaints, especially now. If anyone else has a better idea I'm sure they'll be along with some advice soon. Good luck.
Do what you want because in the end people will judge you anyway.
