If I am in receipt of Income Support then I can get free dental checkups. But would I still need to pay for treatment/repairs?

No, you wouldn't have to pay anything. You should have a NHS exemption card which you will have to show to your dentist. If you don't have a card just google it or ask your local benefits office.
