advice with a loan please

hi all
im not sure where to start last year i had a loan to pay off and was over drawn on my bank accounts the loan was £2000 out standing and my overdrafts were about £700 so it was around 2700 in total.the bank called me in to sort my accounts out my suggestion was to cap what i could take out but the bank said they couldnt do that so i was persuaided to take out a bigger loan to pay the first one off. so now i owe over £4000 and am too endaressed and have been paying the loan. the first loan would of been payed off by now.i,ve never been great with my money and the bank knows that so should they have pushed me into taking an other loan out.
regards avalanche
