Government/jobcentre or Shaw trust fiasco??

Right I have letter in front of me; it says he is in support group he gets an extra £29 because he is in SUPPORT GROUP if he goes to interview will they put him in other group?0
-
He does NOT have to attend - and he will remain in the Support Group whether or not he attends.
If Shaw Trust are insisting he attends, that's bollox - just don't attend... Shaw Trust cannot sanction any benefits. That decision lies with a Decision Maker at JCP... they would just laugh the request out of the office...
Unfortunately, yet another reason why 'Provider-Led' Pathways is NOT working - if you were in my part of the country (where Pathways is still JC led) you would not have had this trouble!!
Please don't worry - no provider can make any decision about your son's benefit as they have no requirement to see him.
Hope this helps...Oops!! Should I have posted this??? Some users don't think I shouldn't be offering advice due to my occupation!!!

Thanks I still worry though - purely because the lady at our local jobcentre said that she'd contacted shaw on his behalf & they confirmed he had to attend or lose his benefit - contrary to what esa say, seems j/centre will believe shaw over their regs, and as for dwp decision maker; is it worth risking not attending in case rules have changed?0
-
Also forgot to say that we're going away next week - son is coming- we were told that is not a good excuse for attending, can't leave him at home, he got so distressed his psychiatrist threatened to admit him. Need to sort this asap, but need to establish whether rules have been changed for support group0

All we need is a murder or suicide as a direct result of the Government's "get the disabled back to work" ploy plastered all over the news to show how wonderful the idea is (I doubt increase in hospital admissions, and increases in relapses etc would be enough to raise any debate).
Despite my cynicism of the job centre etc I hope everything works out for the best timsams.0 -
Thank you, I'm beginning to share your cynicism... especially if jobcentre take advice from shaw trust call handler who claimed to know nothing of groupings in esa, when if she'd called esa herself they'd have told her the rules. Seems they sent referral too early and no one knows whats going on0

Shaw Trust are well out of order on this!
I can sincerely promise you that the rules haven't changed so the decision maker is well aware that benefits CANNOT be reduced/stopped for 'support group' people...
Go on holiday, ignore Shaw Trust - I swear, swear, swear they can't do anything... I work within ESA in a JC-led Jobcentre - the rules are they same for both schemes (provider-led & JC-led)...
ENJOY YOURSELF!!!Oops!! Should I have posted this??? Some users don't think I shouldn't be offering advice due to my occupation!!!

I agree with Sharski, timsams. Shaw Trust are in the wrong and they cannot sanction your son's benefits if he doesn't attend. I do hope you manage to get it sorted out.0

Perhaps this is one to bring to the attention of your MP.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0
