Gelatine

Hello Everyone,

Could someone help me? I want to make a jelly but not sure how. I have some gelatine and strawberries and raspberries. Could I liquidise the fruit and add the gelatine to make a jelly? Would this work?

And another question anyone got a simple recipe for custard?

Thankyou

I personally use jelly crystals because it is so much easier. Custard uses a lot of eggs and so I use Birds custard powder (the old fashioned one in a tin)
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I'm sorry but this wasn't a very helpful response. I was asking for advice on gelatine and a recipe.

Is it gelatine in powder form or gelatine leaves?

Either are easy to use and should have the method on the packet. I think the leaf gelatine give better results as the powder can sometimes be hard to dissolve properly. As far as I remember 1 sachet makes a pint of jelly and 4 leaves make a pint. Follow the instructions on the packet using any liquid you like. You can use water and fruit juice or all fruit juice or even milk. You can even add a bit of alcohol for a grown up jelly.

If you want to liquidise your fruit then make sure you add enough water to make it up to 1 pint. I would add sugar to the fruit.

Another way is to use a fruit juice like raspberry & apple or cranberry to dissolve your gelatine and simply add the berries to that without liquidising so the berries are suspended in the jelly.

When you've made the jelly put it in the fridge to set.

Don't use fresh pineapple or kiwis in a jelly as the gelatine will not set;)
