How would I fair in a credit check?

OK Thanks mate, I am taking it all on board. Is it worth contacting a broker if my credit doesn't appear too bad?
I got my experian report this morning and Freemans have already updated at the same time!
Ironically I got my credit score and it came out as:
Your score is: 999 on a scale of 0-1000
A higher score generally indicates that lenders will consider it less risky to lend money to you.
This score reflects the information held by Experian on the date shown here: 16/03/2006
Your credit score category is:
Excellent
How you compare against the Nation:
In comparison, your National Credit Score is higher than that of 80% of UK consumers applying for credit.
I am feeling a lot more confident about securing a good rate now

Congrats  .
As for whether you need an adviser or not. Well, I would say yes, but more to make sure that any deal you do really is the best for you. After all, previous problems or not, not all of us are sad enough to lookat mortgages all day! However, I may just be biased
Good luck any how, glad to see things look to be on the up.I am an IFA (and boss o' t'swings idst)You should note that this site doesn't check my status as an IFA, so you need to take my word for it. Have you got your credit file for free and the credit rating on Zopa for free?
Read Martin's credit rating article for info.Happy chappy0 -
Hi Tom, thanks for that mate. I got the file for free and I paid £5 for the rating, I don't think zopa will re-score me at the moment but I will check..
Just to update you, I did the application with Halifax today which I confirmed was just a footprint which is removed from file until a full application was made and I passed the credit check at that stage
They approved me for £113,000 lol.
On another note, I have a broker who has been recommended to me, but can I confirm I should be looking for a 'fee free whole of market' broker?
HWIC - I am actually quite sad as I work nights I have spent hours on various spider sites trawling mortgage deals lol.. At present I am looking for a 'fee saver' mortgage, Halifax is attractive with no arrangement fee etc but it'a 5 year tie in and ideally I only want 2. A&L do a two year but I don't think it covers legals, I'm going to give them a call to check.
If any of the brokers on here know the best fee saver mortgages on market at present give me a post just so I can have a read over them

The free credit score given by Zorpa was it? Does this involve a recorded search on your credit file at all?
I would like to know my score but am wary of having unecessary searches logged on my file....

Out of interest, how many valuations usually get turned down? I think we are asking over the odds a bit for mine, is it likely to cause major problems?0
