Hello all
i'm looking at buying a camcorder to record my honeymoon and future special occassions but i dont have the first clue about the technical side of things!!
which type of storage base is best.
and probably more important which format is most future proof?
what should i be looking for?
any help would be greatly appreciated!!
thanks in advance!

hi, im no tech whizz but hope this helps.
most camcorders these days dont use tapes any more, they use either memory cards that you buy seperatly and insert them into the camera ,or they also use HDD which is a hard drive built into the camera.
get the biggest memory you can afford ie 30gb or 60gb memory as you will find you will soon fill it up on a 2 weeks holiday.
not sure what youll be doing with it afterwards , wether you will just play it back on pc, or do you want to edit and make movies, if you have some softwear youll be able to make a dvd to play on to your tv.
any way, i wouldnt buy a dvd one (my sister did she could edit it, the discs were expensive and never used it)
i have just bought the new jvc one with 60gb built in its a great camera very easy to use, has a good optical lense (dont worry about a digital lense as useless). you will probably need to get a spare battery or make sure it comes with a good one.
hope this is of use.0 -

I think the hard drive camcorder is nice because it gives you a big storage space to accumulate lot of video footage without any need to change your recording media. And on other hand the mini DVD disc camcorders have the advantage of putting the disc in directly to a DVD player after recording. One camcorder suitable for home is Sony Digital 8 camcoder DCR-TRV 460e, before you go any further, you might go to the Sony camcorders page... narrow down searches to see which fits your needs better.0
