Cheap postage to Germany

I want to send a parcel to a friend in Germany.
It weighs just over 2kg. Royal Mail can do it cheapest for £12 ish.
Anyone know any cheaper ways/companies/couriers etc?

I think the only way you'd get it there cheaper than with the GPO is to somehow find someone who's going to Germany anyway and persuade them to take it with!0
