I think she reacted in a knee jerk way because she probably has not been asked this before. I would write to them, I would explain exactly what you asked and why you asked it and state that you were not being at all rascist and were upset to have been called this. I would say that I was very interested in one particular dress but have decided to buy elsewhere as the shop were unable to answer you questions and have offended you as well, and that you are writing to them to confirm exactly what the position is and in the hope that if they get asked similar questions in the future they will not lose any more custom by reacting in the same way. If its in writing they cannot manipulate what you said or your intentions.0
