Ask CCCS or NDL for any help you can get for your BR deposit / court fee??
Low Income basis for Court Fee remision??
Charitable Trust / Benevolent Fund for Bankruptcy Deposit.
I had my fee waived and a grant from a Ben... fund.
Are you debts below 15k (and other conds) for BRO ??0 -

Sadly none of the above apply I think
My OH's work is picking up again now that Spring has finally sprung & in my job (also horticulture) we've just been given our hours back after 3 months on short-time. We're not receiving any form of benefit as we're a married couple, no children (all long flown the nest!)

We got loads of those post cards. They are nothing to worry about and certainly not urgent (not to you anyway - maybe to them).
If you get any County Court papers though you do need to fill the acknowledgment in saying you are going to defend all of it, then get into fast gear to go BR. Do you have any idea when you are likely to go BR? Have you started preparing like filling in the forms, opening new bank account etc?

Am hoping to go BR asap (my OH as well), thinking now of selling stuff @ car boots etc., as a way of raising funds.
I've registered online with the Insolvency Service & begun to fill in the forms - for some reason this fills me with dread & I keep putting it off - don't know why as I've already been through my SOA & Debt remedy with the CCCS.
Haven't opened a new bank account as yet as by reading this board for the past 2 months (hi all!) I've gathered its best to do that once you've gone BR as the OR will only freeze any existing accounts?
I already have a Barclays basic account (which I've had for years but rarely use) so I was thinking of asking them if I could keep the account once I'd gone BR? There's nothing much in the account, just a few pounds to keep it active, no DD's on it & I've never used the overdraft facility
At the mo I'm doing a lot of thinking & a lot of worrying but not much action, sad but true!

Just be warned that some of these agencies do a few nasty things such as call your neighbours to leave a message, or post it to the address next door. They do this because people still perceive debt as shameful.0

Also.....Halifax have already handed over my account to a collection agency......the company (Power2contact) who came to our door on Monday

Thankyou for the advice affluenza I will act upon it - luckily our close neighbours are good friends & nice people, I think they'll be ok if we explain the situation.
Yes, I do feel it shameful - or rather I did, until reading this board & realising how many, many people are in the same position without really ever meaning to be there. Now I feel better about it all, the support is tremendous

I have complained to THE OFFICE OF FAIR TRADING about POWER 2 CONTACT as they pushed a card through my door ( all writing on show )saying ring this number re county court judgement ,other people live here who know nothing about my situation and read the card when they picked it up off the mat, also the guy I spoke to was very aggresive in manner on the phone and screamed see you in court at me.ALso on the card it quoted a Halifax ref no.OFT have received my complaint and are keeping it on file as they collect this info and if they get other complaints of a simular nature about the same company they can remove their licence.0
