  • There is a thread somewhere on this board which stresses that you CAN cancel PPI after the 30 days.
Thank you so much. I've found the thread and had a good read, and it does seem that with some perseverance that I can indeed cancel my PPI. Even better I may also be able to claim back the amount I've paid so far. Excellent!

On the lloyds account - make sure they put you on the free one that pays big interest, not the measly one! Not sure what they are called but I had the rubbish one for years and they never told me there was a better one till I wanted to switch to A&L! Then they were keen to let me know!!

  • Right, if nobody minds I'll be updating this thread every so often for my own benefit so I can see what I have done to improve my circumstances.

So far since my first post here yesterday morning I've:

Cancelled my washing machine insurance with Domestic and General, saving £89.80 a year.

Switched from TalkTalk to Primus for my after 6pm landline calls.

Switched from Call18866 to a combination of Call18185 and Call1899 for daytime landline and mobiles calls.

Opened up a new current account online with A&L.

Opened up a new savings account with ING Direct so I can budget for birthdays, Christmas and other regular expenses.

Sent a letter of complaint to Lloyds TSB asking for removal of PPI from my loan.

Kept up with my spending diary for two straight days so far.

Added another £2 coin to my collection.

i've just come across this thread and I think you are an absolute STAR.

Nevertheless I think if you should consider providing more information before people can really advice and give good suggestions

I would suggest you post a Statement of Affairs (SoA) here and people will give advice.

If you browse the bulletin board you will see examples but the general format is

    : statement of income:

    : statement of expenditure
this should be quite detailed but excluding debt repayment
: a subtotal to save us all having to add it up

: statement of all debts including
outstanding amount, monthly repayment , APR
a subtotal to save us having to add it up

also add a brief details of you situation, partner, any children, rent or own property, value of house and mortgage, any special circumstances that are relevant
