Hi everyone, this could be in the wrong place so apologies if it is :o

My friend is getting married on Friday and text me last night to ask a favour involving sewing. No problem I can sew etc etc... She never said what it involved.

Today she came with 2 x teddy bear oufits (wedding dresses) from the bear factory. She wants me to attach ribbon around the waist and finish with a bow at the back.

Here's where I need te advice. I can't sew the ribbon on - it will look daft. I said you could just wrap around the waist and fasten with the bow but she wants it fastened.

Can anyone tell me how to do this? She needs them for Thursday as she is staying at the hotel over 30 miles away before the wedding.

Gulp!!!!

Thanks everyone :T

Would it not work if you tie the ribbon as you suggested, catch it with a few threads and then tie the bow to cover the stitches? Sorry, sewing's not my thing but it seems to me that would do the trick.

    Hi

can you just tie it round the waist and stitch the bit at the back under the bow so that it cant be seen

You don't have to sew it on all the way round. You could oversew it lightly at the top and bottom of the width at intervals, so it is held on in say, in four different places, with unsewn ribbon in between. If you pin the ribbon on right first, this should work.
Failing that use some discreet dots of fabric glue.
Your friend must have a great eye for detail. At my wedding I was so disorganised I ended up wearing some very unglamorous pyjamas on the wedding night!
