I know this has been discussed before but I cannot find it anywhere on the forum. It looks I will need to start paying out for tablets on a long term basis for my ailing cat.
Can anyone suggest an online source for this that would be cheaper than my local vet and is there any facility for paying a yearly fee as we humans can on the National Health to reduce the cost even further?
Thanks

Has anyone had any experience of buying prescription-only drugs for pets on-line?
My dog needs long-term medication which needs a vets presciption, the web-sites listed do sell it if I can produce a presciption, just wondered how most vets feel about this and if anyone has found this easy to do?0 -
Yoga Girl,
I asked the same questions of my vet yesterday and he said there was no problem as far as he was concerned.
One of the sites mentioned in the other replies allows you to put items in your basket and then print out a prescription for you to take to your Vet to be signed.I assume you then send it to the site mentioned and they make it out.
I have yet to try it but I did notice that my vet would give out small amounts of tablets (7,14,28 etc) but the ones I wanted came in lots of sixty when bought onlne.
P+P must also be taken into account when ordering online.I would be interested to hear for anyone who has actually had a prescription filled in this way and weather it was worth it.0 -
Thanks cslogg.
I was worried the vet would refuse to issue a presciption as they also supply the drugs, but the stuff for my dog costs £11 for 30ml from the vets, lasts a month, online its £20 for 100ml. I could save a bit in a year if I can get my vet to sign the presciption!0 -
Yes, that's the one I posted a while back. I use them and not only are the prices very good compared to the vet but the service was quick and efficient.0 -

Vets nowadays are obliged to sign a prescription so you can purchase your pet drugs anywhere. They may charge for this prescription but it should only be a small amount like £5, at most £10.0 -

this page explains about the prescriptions:

I've found the Furry Pharmacy (http://www.furrypharm.co.uk/) to be good.0

You can import prescription-only drugs without a prescription. I bought some Frontline flea treatment (why on earth is this prescription-only in the UK?) from an online place in Australia. It helps if you have a credit card (like Nationwide's) that doesn't charge a foreign transaction fee, and I realised after ordering that it was expensive enough to incur duty, although I avoided it.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0
