It has falled in value by more than the national average.
I put more...........but I neither know nor care.

Nothing similar to ours has sold on Exmoor for over a year as far as I am aware.

Right at this time, I suspect that your psychological theory is true Gen, with more people thinking there house has dropped less than the average, early days though yet.

I Agree most will always think there house as dropped less.

    it is human nature.

We like to think our kids are better behaved and clever than others.

I think it is true with anything if you invest money, time and effort in anything the perceived wealth you brought in to it is more than the actual wealth.

Think of those times as a child you painted a picture it took ages and you thought it was the best in class.

That state of mind never leaves a human.
Your own time and passion is always worth more to you than the open market.:)

I think sentimental items are a great indication EG wedding ring how much would you say it is worth compared to scrap value.

The psychological issue is already probably influencing the results as you will get the bearish attitudes of doom and gloom regardless of the true factual nature of prices in their areas

People like Dopester/Brit1234 for example will be voting for more than average, just because that's the way they want the poll to read rather than basing it around the true factual data for their areas.

Fot the people that voted higher than, i would be interested in the areas you live in, just to double check:D

Mine would've been 'worth' £140,000 at the peak and would now go for around £110,000. What is bizarre is that Halifax thinks it is worth £154,000 according to my KFI.

not a very indicative poll as you would have to assume that you're buying a house at the national average price - what happens if you have bought for higher or even for less.

if you've bought at a higher price you've lost a lot more in value - i don't see a point in the poll unless you have a percentage amount not a value

That's interesting as I don't feel I've 'lost' anything through the value of my flat falling. It was never real money anyway.

Very true, you would only 'lose' if you end up selling for less then you paid.

Prime example of Beecher. He has voted for fallen by average 20%, but he lives in Glasgow where house prices have fallen by only 12%.

Prices peaked in his area at £176,608 in Q4 2007 and are now showing £154,989 in Q1 2009.

That is a drop of only 12.25% but yet he has voted for down by average amount purely because he has a bearish attitude and he wants to see the poll results reflect this.

I suspect he is not the only 1, but hey do not let me spoil the party:rolleyes:
