okay so im posting under a different username as i want to keep my anoniimity
a few years ago circa 99/2000 i got in a right mess for money.
owed £000's
forward to now ive gradually slogged through it paying debt after debt off
my credit ratings screwed and its cash on the nail for me now
looking at my credit report it shows
i show nothing like CCj's on my report, nothing under gain etc
basically now my only debt is littlewoods which will be clear by May
obvously i have those stupid late payments showing but that should be sorted now.
so after all of that
how would a report like that be viewed in an application to join the police?
im guessing once littlewoods is cleared then the only issues are the late payments and not being on the electoral roll?
cheers

You have £392 of outstanding debt (excluding mortgages and defaults) (this is with littlewoods)
You are using 9% of your available credit
You have 6 credit accounts (including settled accounts) (3 are settled,1 is studio (£0),one is orange mobile and 1 is littlewoods)
You have 1 accounts overdue (littlewoods, under an agreement with littewoods and will be paid in 2 payments)
You have missed 16 repayments in the last year (stupid i know and ive put nearly everything on DD to avoid this from now on)
Your credit report has been viewed 0 times in the last 3 months and 3 times in total over the last year ( bank search for a new account ,one for my new mobile and one for a studio account)
You have 0 public information records
You have 0 aliases and/or financial associations
You have been at your current address for 1 years 6 months
You are not on the electoral roll at your current address (long story on this but im just renting a room for now )
You have 0 notice of correction on your credit report
i show nothing like CCj's on my report, nothing under gain etc

if memory serves me right i think theyre only concerned with CCJ type things/if you have a criminal record. Im sure littlewood debts arent really hardcore enough for them to turn you away if your application is good enough. I would say give it go!0

I honestly wouldn't worry! My OH joined police(PSNI) 6 years ago and we had debts back then. Best of luck0 -
echo the previous answers, its the CCJs that can cause the issues- go for it and good luck! For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070

I would concur with what's said above. Nothing particularly bad there. Go ahead and apply.
If they started turning away applicants for late payments, there wouldn't be a police force!0 -
many thanks
after a really bad day at work its definatly time to get that application in0 -
A lot of police are in debt hence why a lot do 2 jobs.0

you should be fine with this. They do the check to see if you're in serious financial difficulty as this could be detrimental to the force as you could be susceptable to kick backs and bribes (if you know what I mean)
most people have mortgage and credit card debt, but if it's debt that you cannot handle then it will be a problem.0 -
You need to check with the force concerned as each has differing standards with regards to finances.
Also, be aware that at the moment, things are so tough on the recruitment side of policing that some forces are only opening recruitment slots for 2 hrs and others are not recruiting for upto 2 years.
Look at www.policecouldyou.co.uk
You'll find that only 1 force is currently recruiting but the best way to check is to register interest with the chosen force and you may get the heads up before it hits the ol' interweb.

Weezy_gal is absolutley correct.
Also, nothing in that report to be worried about. Missed repayments are easy to explain as long as the accounts are now up to date. Being on the electoral role will help you get more credit though, but that is a different issue.
When I joined the Met back in 1992 I was worrying about the same things as you, more so because I had a default from Barclaycard a couple of years earlier and was convinced that it would scupper me.
Never an issue though.0
