desperation

I am so desperate for some help or advice. I have paid my csa to the tune of £31,000 over the last 11 yrs and the csa are hounding me and saying none of it has been paid.
I have all the cqu stubs and bnk statements which I showed but six months ago the bayliffs were at my door for £8,000 csa say'a they informed me, I have borrowed money to get them off my back. now csa says I owe £6,000 I hve requested information from csa but it never arrives.
I have struggled with getting work since 2005 and told them this.I can't get any income support etc and I am so broke I just feel like leaving the country and to hell with all of it, but its not that easy.
I cant get legal aid, I cant afford these "free help agencies" which want money from me.
Please, some body must know a way to resolve this, I have paid and been responsible, now I need help nobody seems to be able to take my case on.

    Hi

Best place to go is your MP. Phone up their assistant who will phone the Parliamentary hotline and a member of CSA staff will phone you back.

Then pop into the MP's constituency office and hand ALL your paperwork to them...remember to give them copies. You need a complete paper trail.

The assistant should ask for a complete account breakdown from the date your case started.

Book an appointment to see your MP at their next surgery.
  • thanks for that but my local mp is one of those in question over his expences, and he has ignored my last two letters to him.

If you have paid, has the parent with care confirmed with the CSA that you have in fact paid the maintenance?

Regardless of who your MP is you still have the right to see him! Make an appointment to see him at one of his surgeries - ring his local constituency office and speak to his secretary.

Have you applied for your data protection file? Have you demanded, yes demanded to see somebody at the CSA to ask how they have got the figure of arrears that they have? Is this based on a full assessment or an interim assessment?
  • Thank you all for your response. My X thinks it's funny to tell the CSA that she has not received payments, and our law being an !!! the onus of proof is, as always is on the innocent. I have now for the third time just written and requested a full copy of my file. Because I was self employed I had not made the correct N I stamp payments, so I can't claim any kind of income support. The assessment is not interim it is from day one 1998, I had a reassessment in 2005 when my business collapsed, which the csa said was not reassessed until 2007, they deny they were informed.
Has anyone ever successfully got the CSA to sign for a recorded letter? mine are always returned.

Income support is not dependent on NI contributions, only Contributions Based JSA is - are you single or do you have a partner who works? If the former then you will be eligible for JSA (Income Based) (which is the same as income support only you have to sign on to get it) unless you have too much money in savings.
  • wife does work but only about 15/20 hrs a wk, earns about £7000 gross, all savings have used up over last 4 years.
Have been to citizens A B and they got no further with CSA, have now got MP's address so going there now. will keep you posted.

If she works less than 24 hours per week then you should be able to claim JSA (IB) but her income will be deducted from it.
