Contribution for Company Car - Any Tax implications?

A quickie, I hope.
I worked for a company for 2 years who provided a company car with the values (and/or CO2 emissions?) stated on the P11D, from May 2005 to May 2007.
During this period I had a deduction of £30 per month from my Nett salary marked on my payslip as "Car Contribution"
Any thoughts on this as it seems to me that I was paying full tax and then a "stealth tax" to the company , I say stealth as this was never mentioned during the interview or on the contract of employment.
I may be clutching at straws but this company managed to balls up my PAYE for two years resulting in me having an unpaid tax bill of £2,000+ so I am trying to reduce this in any way possible.
(In the other 10 years I have been doing self assessment returns I have always had a rebate of some form!)
Thanks in advance.

Your monthly contributions for the use of the car should have been take into account on the P11d so that you paid tax on the car benefit, less the £360. if this wasn't done correctly, you need to get confirmation from the company in writing and then present it to HMRC.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

When I made contributions to my company car the contributions were shown on the p11d, if they aren't on your p11d contact the tax office and tell them. It could make a difference if the £30 was towards the cost of fuel, I pay for any fuel I use for personal use and obviously can't claim that against the car tax.0

Thanks guys,
It turns out it was actually £40 a month, I found my old payslips last night.
Should help bring that tax account down quite a bit, especially if I combine it with my 08/09 mileage claim.0
