Tesco Clubcard Mag Subscription query

I currently subscribe to Empire magazine at £9.50 every 3 months. Having not used my vouchers before i'm still unsure how it works but it says a years subscription will cost £12.50 in vouchers.
Am i best to use the clubcard vouchers because it will be for something i am already paying for in full price? OR is it a case that to earn that many points requires alot of spending in shop, it cancels out any benefit from buying the subscription at the reduced price?

I work for Tesco's, hangs head in shame.
The way i feel about points is that I would buy stuff anyway so the points are a bonus. I'm not the type of customer who buys an extra chocolate bar to make it up to a round pound so I can get my point  OMG I hate them but they pay my wages!
With the clubcard deals you nearly always get double to four times the value of the coupon when you trade them so £9.50 every 3 months is £38 per year, Clubcard deal £12.50 you save £25.50. I'd only do it if you are going to spend that amount (£1250) in Tescos anyway.
They want you to buy big items, tv dvd player furniture, and all your groceries and petrol from them. The clubcard deals are one way to encourage customers to do this, or as Tesco put it "to ensure lifelong customer loyalty"0 -

:rotfl:Think you meant £12.50 not £1250! and please don't feel embarassed about working in Tescos, its popular enough that it has more threads then any other supermarket and can't be as bad as some of the jobs I've had!0 -

You get 1 point for every whole pound you spend, assuming you don't use any "extra points" offers, you would need to spend that amount to get £12.50 in clubcard coupons.
Another of looking at it is you get back 1% of the total amount spent over the qualifying period.0 -
I have used Tesco points this way for Radio Times. It saved me a fortune so I would recommend this. The only problem is it takes a while to set up so you may have to buy a couple of issues before it goes through.0

Hey OP I was in your position. What I did was cancel my current Empire subscription. When you exchange the vouchers you get a form to fill in and mail to Empire so I just waited until I was on the last magazine of my old subscription before sending for it. I think it took about a month to set up.
Also note you do not get the free added bonuses you'd normally get if you'd paid for it like free DVDs for year subscription etc. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I do most of my magazine subs through tescos, its saves paying out a fortune in cash for them, and you get more moneys worth for your points!
I have a tesco credit card,so everything I buy I get points on wherever it is,so I have quite a healthy points balance at the end of the 2 months cycle,so it makes sense for me!0 -
Thanks all. Shall think about it and see if its ok with the misses0
