Statements

Are bank accounts covered by the new ruling from OFT about yearly statements having to be sent out for debts that are being paid off on a monthly arrangement? The reason I ask is that I have never since 2005 received a statement from NatWest bank account. When I asked for a statement NatWest told me they do not send out statements for bank accounts on a dmp.
Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p

As far as i am aware, they are required under the Amendments under the Consumer Credit Act 2006 (from September or October) to supply a statement of all transactions for the previous year for all accounts that fall under the CCA74 Act.

I take this to mean that any account, credit card, overdraft or loan must have an annual statement sent if the account is still open.

Do you know if the account is still officially classed as open? Not sure if you can check this on your credit report, but you should be able to contact them and ask when the account was closed. Just not sure of the date in September or October when they are supposed to have issued statement by. It's supposed to be a minimum of 1 statement per annum.

Might be worth asking nationaldebtline about this.
I've never had a statement for my loan, but i'm expecting one at the end of the year.

  • Thanks for your reply. I have received all the other statements but this is the only bank account with the dmp. I will check with NDL tomorrow before I contact NatWest.
