Mileage Allowance Relief

I am looking to claim some significant Mileage Allowance Relief for the last few years. I am paid a Mileage Allowance of £0.28 per mile for something called Home to Duties for a voluntary organisation. I am aware of the rule where journeys between your home and office are not allowed, but i heard of a clause from somewhere relating to the destination and its designation?

At any time, we may be asked to attend a different location for training purposes so effectively although we are assigned to one office for admin purposes we could be located anywhere.

Is MAR still permittable?

If you go straight from home to a client or other work destination, the mileage is allowable for tax, less your normal home to work mileage - the same for returning home direct from a work meeting, etc.
£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths

The mileage you have claimed and the amount you are paid should be given to you by your "employer" at the end of the financial year. If you claimed that you did 1000 business miles you will have been paid £280. The taxman says you are entitled to £400 and will pay you tax relief on the difference.

You say it relates to a voluntary organisation - do you get paid a salary from them. If not then you cannot claim any expenses as the expense has to be set against the income from that particular employment therefore if you have no income there is nothing to set the expense against.

Small salary. This is something that we do in addition to our full time paid employments.
