Thanks for the frank and honest reply, as for the care home fess, I will only touch on it cos it winds me up , but there are few others in the same home as my dad , not all, recieving the same care in identical rooms and these people do not pay a penny towards their care as it is paid for by the state , one is an ex alcoholic for example who never saved for a pension etc, and my dad who built up a succesful business and saved hard is having half of his private pension taken to pay for his care.
Apply for Continuing Health Care to meet the cost of his fees. It's not easy to get, but you may be one of the successful ones.
On the car - did the dealer ask you for proof of identity when you signed the agreement for your dad ?.................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
Does your father have a social worker? He should have, they may be able to help with this financial issue of the car. Also you could get in touch with MIND as dementia is classed as a mental illness. Lots of debts are written of because of mental illness, it's just knowing how to go about it (and I don't). Also citizens advice I know are difficult to get hold of, but some of their offices accept email queries, and i found there response and response time excellent.
