Looking to buy a cheap desk and coffee table for son's flat, he is sharing. I am thinking of Ikea or Argos.I just wonder whether anybody knows what happens if they deliver and you are not at home. Thanks

Argos may leave with a neighbour or leave a card for you to rearrange delivery.0

I have Ikea Mikael desks. Very good and cheap. Took 1 hr to build.
When Ikea delivered to me they told me when they were in the area and asked me to pick one of those days when I would be available for delivery.Kavanne

There are some really good value desks at Ikea.

When I went to Ikea Croydon with a friend she could not choose a delivery date - it was next day only, so we managed to cram the wardrobes in the car instead!
Was in a large Tesco at the weekend and they had reduced some smart looking glass PC desks, they were half price - about £17 I think.0 -
You could always try freecycle.org. people are always giving things away for free you might be lucky and get one on there.I have seen leather sofas etc up for grabs, as long as you have the means to take it away and the person offers it to you. I have been very lucky on freecycle and got alot of outdoor stuff for the kids, mostly like new!0
