I need a new bed and I need help to find one!!

I need a new double bed for my new house, but I am on a serious budget seeing as I don't get paid in my new job for another 6 weeks!!
Now seeing as we're talking about a bed where I will spend hopefully many hours a night, I don't want the cheapest of the cheap when it comes to mattresses, but I was hoping someone could help me find a bargain.
Cheapest so far with a decent looking mattress are these from Argos:
http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=4501&productId=212138
http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=4501&productId=222071
The second looks less fragile and might be worth it's weight in gold for £20.00 more, I mean, I don't want my bed legs to break when I'm, er, jumping on the mattress, right?!
Total cost so far is £155-175.00 including postage to Manchester M22.
If anyone knows of anywhere selling at a lower total price, I'd be eternally grateful!!

This may or may not help
BUT;
If you save your Tesco Clubcard Vouchers they are worth 4 times their value - MFI sell beds and have a sale on just now. Do you have any vouchers??0 -
I have some, I think but probably only worth about £1.00, if that!!!! Good idea tho. Just a shame I'm not near a Tesco.0

Hi ace_case,
If you find a bed that has the mattress sold separately it might be worth looking to see if you can find the same mattress on www.mattressman.co.uk. They do reasonably priced brand name mattresses with free delivery to mainland uk within two days.

Hi ace, noticed the M22, I`m in M25, Prestwich, theres a place in Higher Broughton / Cheetham Hill that sells factory rejects / seconds. I can`t remember the name of it although I`m sure I`ve seen a link on this site to there website. Try doing a searxh for mattress.0

Just to say we have an IKEA bed and it's AWFUL. We didn't scrimp and get the cheap one, but it's desperately uncomfortable, and don't get me started on the slats that don't stay put. Also, their mattress sizes are slightly different to standard UK sizes, so you pretty much have to buy your sheets from them too.
We too have been looking for a new bed, but are stumped. Will be reading this thread with interest. OP!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 002 :rotfl:0 -

If anyone has more info on this place that could be a winner! I've tried on a google search, but with no luck yet.
Thanks for tips and hints so far.0 -
As our spare bed (ie in spare room), we have an Argos divan with an eggbox foam mattress topper on top of the mattress. It's DIVINELY comfortable (I think it might even be more comfortable than our Dunlopillo bed!)
Eggbox mattress toppers never seem to get discussed on this site - everyone talks about memory foam toppers. But eggboxes are great (FAR better than I expected!) and cost far far less. Have a lookhere (scroll down to the bottom) - this is just a random site, I don't have any vested interest!Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0
