I would think it will be OK. I wash trainers regularly and have just bought DS a pair of machine washable walking boots! A backpack will be no problem!

The backpack might be ok but the washer might break up. 1a_y_shock1.gif

Wash away - but remember to check ALL the pockets - one mobile phone and one mp3 player did not come out of the washing machine very happily - although the rucksack was like a new pin!

I always wash backpacks too and if you are unlucky to lose the top part of the zip you can always insert a curtain ring to help open it.

Some of the backpacks have a stiff panel in the bottom which is cardboad based and I find it best to remove this prior to washing.

Hope you`re impressed with the result!

An old keyring does the job too ;)

    Hi frostyspice,

A similar thing happened to my son's rucksack type schoolbag. I discovered on the last day of the Christmas holidays that it contained a two week old spilled yoghurt and a squashed banana. There was no time to get him another bag, so I bunged it in the washing machine at 40 degrees and hoped for the best.......it came out like new. :j Let us know how you get on with yours.

I'm happy to report that I washed it on a 40 degree wash with some other things and it has come out like new!!

    Thanks all for your advice!
