I bought at the peak and yes I've lost a good chunk of my deposit.

I'm consoled by the fact that in order to fund my purchase I sold RBS shares and a Porsche, so I went from one crap investment to another!

I would never have just tucked the money away in the bank account like some on here - life is for enjoying, not saving for a day that will never come.

And actually despite the loss in 'net worth', my monthly disposable income has gone up by over £1K a month with a tracker rate, so not all bad.

    Rochdale,
It is probably easiest to explain in terms of gold
If you bought gold when it didnt cost much i.e. when GBrown sold it.
If you still own it i.e. unlike GBrown, your wealth has increased.

Did you go out and buy a lot of gold from G Brown? No? Well shut up then.

What's the difference whether investing in bank accounts or bank shares or indeed property - whichever way, your money is tied up and not therefore "enjoyed" (your definition)

    Eh?.......

"Spot on" is too short to be posted - the forum has a 10 character minimum I think.

You don't need to apologise to me! I live in a fabulous house and I paid off my mortgage in 2005! It's people like you that makes me puke. Thank God you'll never be able to afford to buy round my way!

You come accross like the village snob where we live. She thinks she has a lot of freinds:rotfl: if only she knew

I think its a balance of both.

Becomming overly obsessive about money is as bad and pointless as spending it all.
