Training .. my heart's not in it.

Options
I've done and completed my ECDL course and there's just the Unit E module to pass now. I was kinda geared up to do it but then this new tutor (at LearnDirect) spoke to me about it saying it was really hard, they asked you questions about working with computers abroad and that it was a really high pass rate. I haven't really taken to her anyway but after she spoke to me .. she's just totally put me off doing this Unit E exam which means I'll get a Level 2 certificate (or sumit). The pass rate is 80% and I've passed all the other 7 exams with higher than that mark. I just kinda feel there's no point in getting the Unit E and sick of studying or trying to study and remember stuff. I don't like failing exams so worried that if I do take it, that I'll fail.

Your new tutor really should be filling you with confidence, now telling you how hard it is, maybe call LearnDirect and see if they can assign you a new tutor?
I'm studying Law with the OU so I know how tired one can get studying, but you've done so well to pass the other 7, would be a shame to give up now!! Keep going, think of the rewards at the end of it and the opportunities that will open up!

Well I am not an ECDL tutor but I have referred many clients to do their ECDL. If you have successfully completed all units so far above 80% then I would suggest you have very little to worry about. A very brief google search threw up this site which might be of assistance to you:

    and

    http://www.dfranklin.co.uk/Revision%20Guides/unitescroll.pdf

Granted some of the information might be a little outdated but I hope it may be of use.

Don't doubt your confidence at this late stage. Go for it :)

I got 19 right on the Sandra Yeadon link. Them questions were wierd and awkward though, not the sort that you get on ECDL exams.

Apologies if it wasn't too helpful. It was only a brief google search. The revision paper does seem a little dated being 2005 but some of the information may still be valuable.

If you fail you do get to do a resit. When I did ECDL i was worried about module E as well, but it was a breeze. Just do the study at home and avoid Mrs High and Mighty!

Same as the above. When I did the ECDL it was the first time I'd done any studying since 1982.

If you've done the other modules then you will do this one
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical

Just go for it! What have you got to lose?
Consider all the thousands that are now out of work that would do anything for the opportunity that you have.
Think of it as just that.... an opportunity!

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

Unit E is really an extension of Unit 1 - so the questions can be a bit more complicated but are still multi-choice.

As far as the suggested websites having out-of-date content is concerned, don't worry ECDL were still asking questions about Y2K in 2004 AFAIR so they will still be asking about MP3 files and perhaps not MP4 yet. (I don't know because I'm not teaching ECDL now but there is probably a bit of a lag.)

It is worth doing Unit E as it does turn the ECDL into a proper Level 2 qualification.
