Hi there:
having a day out looking for wedding & brdesmaid dresses on 15 april.
I want to book a few appointments but want to avoid shops, where I'll faill in love with a dress for me or the bridesmaids which is £££££'s.
Where would you scottish brides or brides to be recommend I have a look at?
Thanks!

Have a look in BHS for bridesmaids things.
Whats your budget? You need to tell the assistant this to avoid trying on dresses that are too expensive.
Most bridesmaids dresses I've seen in bridal shops start at £150. Maybe you could try one of the hig street shops for dresses for your bridesmaids, New Look usually have a lot of nice dresses and it's something that the girls can wear again so good value for money.
The dresses I've tried on so far have all been with a view to getting something similar and much cheaper from landy etc. I'm getting my bridesmaids dresses from Milly Bridal. It's certainly worth considering getting your bridemaids dresses made this way as it will save you a fortune.
Island Elegance send you out a sample dress to try on when you order so that you can see it before paying out for a dress. They also do bridesmaids dresses.0 -
oooh nat thats intersting about Island Elegance sending you out a sample dress! I'll look into that!
I saw a gorgeous dress with ellisbridal but it doesnt seem that landy do copies of them and I'm nervous about them copying from a pic..0 -
To be honest, they are copying all their dresses from pictures. They're professional dressmakers. Try Milly, I'm sure they show you drawings of the dress before they make it if it's one that you;ve asked them to make. Don't quote me on it but I'm sure I read that somewhere else. I'll try and dig it out.0

I looked in Panache on Stockwell Street at dresses, some of theirs were reasonable in price. The lady I had was really helpful - I don't think you need an appointment for there).
In the end I got my dress from Anne Priscilla (need an appointment) - it was on the special offers page of their website (http://www.annepriscillabridal.co.uk/specialoffers.html), I tried it on and fell in love with it instantly!!! Saved about £1400 on it which was a bonus - it was the last in the line. Going for my final fitting to collect it on Saturday - wedding in two weeks, can't wait!!!!!!
Good luck with your search!!!
P.S. I got my bridesmaids dresses from the Debut department in Debenhams on one of their blue cross day sales!0 -

A few years ago a friend of mine decide to get married quite quickly. We went shopping in Glasgow for bridesmaid dresses and really struggled to get ready made, good value dresses in the bridal shops. Then on the off chance we found out about a shop in the Barrowlands. Inside and outside at first it looked terrible, market stall style. But it was a little treasure trove for mother of the bride outfits, communion dresses, flower girl dresses and in particular bridesmaid dresses. Mixed in with really cheap market style clothes were these amazing quite expensive outfits. But we found beautiful deep red long bridesmaid dresses with diamante beading around the bust. Really good quality for £100. If i find the name of the place i'll let you know.0
