Yes, but I have I have a Vectra 150 SRi and it costs me about about £1000 a year in extra tax, so not too bad, and compared to having an allowance (which I was offered) I think it's a better deal as you don't have to worry about depreciation, servicing, faults, tyres etc..

So to me £1000 is ok.

That's what I was thinking, its almost worth the extra tax just to not have the hassle of servicing, insurance, etc. and especially depreciation if I end up doing a lot of miles.

Depreciation is the killer, book price of my car new was 20k dead, I have had it 15 months and done 45k in it, in 9 months it will be going back to the lease company with no more than 70k on it (that's their limit) and I doubt it will fetch more than 5k at an auction.

I've just been looking at a mazda RX8. It has tax of £2882.40 pa / £240.20 pm. Might be a little OTT, but what a beautiful car. :)

That's cheap compared to the ownership costs though, most people would have to have a loan for a car like that, and the loan alone(sic) would be more than that unless you had it with Ocean finance over 300 years.:D

hmnnn, that's true. The montly cost of oil for the rotory engine alone could break you. Might see if it's on the company car list. :)

And of course, regardless of what oil you put in it, the rotary engine would break the day after the warranty expired.

I too go for the company car option for the peace of mind, and it's worth even more to me than that (think I pay £250/month tax) as I drive an A6 2.0T.
All a question of how motivated you are to economise and do things for yourself DD.
