are you having a sit down meal for daytime then buffet for evening ??
we was looking at them when booking our venue, but because of the lateness of us getting married, our venue is doing a 'rolling buffet' so they can put food out as and when needed - they have given us a set price of that too - no set numbers required
at the end of the day money in the till comes mainly through drinks - i would defo negoiate with your venue about the % of your guests - seems to me they are trying to rip you off, unless you have less amount of guests and/or state of the art foodGot married on 1st August
thank you to everyone on the weddings and anniversary forum xxx

OMG!
Can't you negotiate the price per head? What are they providing for that price? I thought buffets were about £5 per head, my friends did their kids christening for £3.50 a head which included cold savoury items and sweet items. Some other friends did their wedding buffet for £6 a head at a fancy golf club and there was hot and cold items plus cakes etc and chocolate fountain.
Did you not watch The Apprentice two weeks ago? That was £30/head for cheese on sticks!!!!0 -
We had our wedding breakfast at 3.30pm and our evening buffet was brought out at around 8.30pm. We only had about an extra 25 guests for the evening.
Our caterers recommended catering for no more than 70% of the total number of guests at the reception.
We chose just to have a pate and cheese selection with our wedding cake for the buffet. The caterers put out fruit and french sticks etc. We were told we could take any leftovers home but everything went! Having said that I don't think anyone went hungry there was plenty there.
Ours cost £3.50 per head so very reasonable. If we had decided to stick to sandwiches, sausage rolls etc it would have been £6 per head. I do think £13 is on the expensive side but if you can take leftovers home with you not too bad!!:rotfl:
Good luck x0 -
We have to cater for a minimum of 80%, and we have a minimum number of 120 (they're honouring a deal for us) in the eve so I've told them we're having 120 and catering for 100. There will probably end up being a few more than that but 90 of us will have had a 5 course meal at 4pm!!
Our buffet is £13 per head also and we get a mix of buffet food plus either chilli or curryMummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0 -
dear god!!!
My buffet is £3.50 p/h - & thats either a bacon, egg or lorne sausage roll, plus tea and coffee per person and of course the cake all cut up.
I think a roll each is fine.. £16 a head!! We're only paying £19 p person for our meal (we're getting 20% off because we're getting married on a Monday)
The planner at the hotel suggested 70-80% evening catering.. this is the standard she says.0 -
Hi ya, I am getting married in Sept this year (VERY EXCITED)
I am having a sit down lunch meal at £15.95 adult and £4.95 child for 2 courses. Also evening buffett at £6 per head, I am still not sure about the buffet menu as not much on there. I will dispute!!!!:):):)

There are 38 of us so I booked an evening buffet for 30. Considering some people won't eat in the evening and the younger children may go to bed, that should be plenty.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219.
