We've got one in Son's room , he has several games and a video machine running off his, it's handy if you get one with the little buttons on the side of each slot as you can disable the things your not currently using. We got ours from B & Q and it was quite reasonable, must have been under a tenner or I wouldnt have bought it.

Be aware that you often get problems with the cheap non-switched ones..

Many items still send a signal ( blank) when left in standby which causes problems . Often the TV output gets resent back through the input causing shimmering and shadows too..
I can't use mine with both my Freeview and DVD player.

Switched models are better, but of course you have the hassle of getting up to change the inputs over. blankdiscshop have an autoswitching model for £9.99 ( plus postage) , but you sometimes even get problems with these.
