re-freezing defrosted foods?

Hello, Not sure if this is the place to put it...

I noticed loads of Waitrose own brand ready meals (the curry £3.99 ones) reduced to 59p, so I bought 8x tikka masala and 4x korma, had 2 on day of purchase (today) and put the other 10 in the freezer.

Now they used to say they are freezable on the package so I never checked... although it looks as if Waitrose may have changed their methods of packing as it now states that the products have been frozen previously and are NOT suitable for home freezing.

Now... I have them in my freezer, will it really do that much damage as most products that use retail style freezing are normally suitable, or is it because it may impact the flavour? If it is the later, then I have no worries, but whether I should eat it or not is the most prominent thing on my mind atm.

If it is fine, then I plan to eat them all within a month (me and my gf).

What do you guys think?

Cheers, Steve

All I can say is that I have defrosted items before now and decided that I no longer wanted to eat them and then re frozen them and eaten them at a later date.

I am still here to tell the tale.

I am sure it isn't the best way to go though.

I just ensured that they were thoroughly cooked and piping hot. I also don't make a regular thing of this.. it is only once in a blue moon.

But it will be a case of each to their own... as I am sure there are more knowledgable people here that can advise intelligently.

Similar problems with fish: I bought three lots of fish from Tesco 'fresh fish' counter last week. When I got home, two said 'previously frozen, keep refrigerated' on the sticker and one said 'can be frozen' or similar. Nothing at all was said at the time of buying. I've frozen them all and plan to take my chances but I'd like to know the theory behind this from anyone more knowledgeable.

I've re-frozen stuff plenty of times. We are all still here and healthy
